Oh Wilmington, your middle name is Potential. Culture abounds, from museums to theatre to art galleries. You are home to a major university. Your historic waterfront is a joy to behold. Your restaurants are first class. Cranes dot your skyline as your population swells. You are truly an aspiring City of the Future.
And as I travel downtown on streets lined with modern buildings and beautiful homes, I pass two statues commemorating the Confederacy and I’m struck by how far you still have to go.
